Hi there! I’m Dawn Eunice G. Silorio, a student at Silliman University Senior High School. As a proud Dumagueteña, I can say that Dumaguete is a city perfect for everyone. It’s peaceful, vibrant, and has the right mix of city life and nature. I’m a big foodie and I love going on adventures, so let me take you on a quick tour of my hometown.

First stop is Rizal Boulevard. It’s a great place to unwind, hang out with friends, and enjoy the sea breeze. You’ll also find delicious street food here, like tempura, balut, and fish balls. It’s a favorite spot for both locals and tourists. I personally love to unwind here!

Next is Silliman University, my beloved school. Studying here is peaceful and fun. The campus is full of trees, open spaces, and historic buildings. It’s one of the oldest American-founded universities in Asia and is known internationally. Many students from other provinces and even other countries come here to study. And yes, the famous Dumaguete cheese bread is sold here too. Sillimanians are friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.

Now let’s talk about food. Silvanas — ever heard of them? These sweet, creamy treats actually came from Dumaguete by Sans Rival Cakes & Pastries. They’re so delicious, I always recommend visitors to try them and bring some home. But take note! Dumaguete offers many more restaurants and cafes worth visiting as well.

Lastly, don’t miss Painitan sa Tiangge. It’s a breakfast spot inside the public market where locals enjoy native coffee, budbud, and puto early in the morning. It’s warm, simple, and brings people together. We call it “painitan” because it warms you up before the real meal. I recommend trying the “10-5-5” combo; I promise you won’t regret it!

📌Don't miss out on this!

So if you ever visit Dumaguete, enjoy the sights, taste the food, and feel the warmth of the people. From sea breeze to sweet treats, from learning spaces to local flavors, Dumaguete is a place that feels like home.

I take pride in calling this the city where I grew up.
